Resident Snow Globes

Resident Snow Globes

Happy Friday!! You’re going to love this fun, interactive craft!

You Will Need:

  • Printed Photo of you, your pet, or whatever you’d like in your snow globe.
  • Packing tape (Laminating Machine if you have one)
  • Smooth Surface Mason Jars
  • Clear Glue
  • Glitter
  • Confetti
  • Scissors
  • E6000

To Begin:

  1. First I printed out a picture of me front and back (the back-side mirrored) then cut to shape.
  2. For this next step, you can either laminate your cut-outs or do what we did and used packing tape!
  3. Lay your cut-out on a flat surface. With a few pieces of tape as long or wide as you need, lay them as flat as possible to the cut-out and table.
  4. Peel your cut-out up and flip it over.
  5. Next, repeat another layer of packing tape on the opposite side.
  6. You should be left with a sturdy, water-resistant image. Trim any excess tape off the cut-out.
  7. Grab your mason jar, fit your image inside of your jar and tape your image to the lip of the jar. Be sure some of the tape is wrapped around the outer lip so when the lid is screwed on it stays put.
  8. Next, fill the mason jar less than a third of the way with clear glue.
  9. Add glitter and confetti to your liking. Next, fill with water to the neck of the jar.
  10. Secure the lid, shake well, done!
  11. Once your jar is to your liking, glue the lid shut using industrial glue. I like to use E6000.
  12. Enjoy!!

Sock Snowmen

Sock Snowmen
Sock Snowmen

Happy DIY-Day!! I can’t wait to show you how to make these adorably cute snowmen for this upcoming winter – they’re made from just socks and rice!

Supplies
Supplies

You Will Need:

  • Socks (One white, one colored)
  • A Cup
  • 1 lb bag of rice
  • 2-3 Buttons
  • Ribbon
  • Pom Pom
  • Black and Orange Marker
  • 2, 6-inch strands of twine
  • Scissors

To Begin:

  1. Begin by placing your white sock in your cup – wrap the opening of the sock around the lip of the cup to hold your sock open for you.
  2. Pour enough rice into your sock to make the body of your sock snowman – check your sock to make sure you have not too much nor too little.
  3. Using your twine, tie off the snowman’s body as close to the rice as possible. I usually triple-knot to make sure it doesn’t come undone.
  4. Next, with the help of a friend, hold open the opening of your sock and allow your friend to pour rice into your snowman to make the head.
  5. Like the body, we’ll use a strand of twine to tie off the head. Trim the hanging strands of twine.
  6. You should be left with a sock in the shape of a snowman – he’ll have a small tuft of fabric at the top of his head – you can either trim this or leave it as is. It will soon be covered with a hat!
  7. Next, we’ll grab our colorful sock and cut it in half – right at the arch of the sock.
  8. Using the toe-half of the sock, we’ll place this on top of our snowman’s head. Roll the bottom up to see his face.
  9. Using your black marker, mark two dots for his eyes, and a dotted half-crescent for the mouth.
  10. With the orange marker, draw a sideways triangle for the nose.
(You can also use a small orange pompom if you have one – attach with hot glue)
  11. Next, we’ll add the scarf – you can either use the fabric from what’s leftover of your colorful scarf or use a pretty ribbon. The choice is yours!
  12. For this last step, we’ll heat up our hot glue gun and grab a couple of buttons. Then we’ll glue them to the front of our snowman.
  13. And finally, you have a cute and cuddly snowman!

It’s DIY Friday! Are you feeling thankful, grateful & blessed? Spread the cheer around this Thanksgiving with this “Thankful Tree” Activity!

Thankful Tree
Thankful Tree

You Will Need:

  • Construction Paper
  • Printable Leaf Template
  • Brown Kraft Paper
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Pen/Marker

To Begin:

  1. Begin by Downloading and Printing out the Leaf Template provided below.

2. Next, cut out the leaf then lay it on top of a stack of colorful construction paper.

3. Trace the leaf laying on the top sheet.

4. With the stack of paper in hand, cut out the shape of the leaf you just traced.

5. You should be left with a bunch of colorful leaves. Hand your leaves out to your residents (allow them to choose their favorite color). Give your residents a pen or marker to sign their name on one side and what they’re thankful for on the other.

6. Collect your leaves and set aside.

7. To make the tree trunk we used a large roll of brown kraft paper, then cut to the length desired. Laying on a flat surface, we drew the outline of a tree with tree limbs sticking out whatever which way.

8. Cut out your tree shape and hang in a window using clear tape.

9. Next, have your residents tape their leaves to the tree – name facing one way and what they’re thankful for on the opposite side.

10. Admire your Thankful Tree!

Popsicle Stick Scarecrow

Happy DIY-Day!

Today we will be making our own Scarecrow Magnet using Popsicle Sticks. Hang this little guy on your fridge to ward away any unwanted pests! (Protect your food!)

You Will Need:

  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Orange Paint
  • Google Eyes
  • Fabric Flowers
  • An orange, brown and pink marker.
  • Magnet

To Begin:

  1. Start by heating up your glue gun. Lay out roughly 8 popsicle sticks vertically next to one another. Be sure your popsicle sticks are all straight and facing the same way.
  2. Next, with your glue gun and a single popsicle stick, apply a line of glue down your stick. After the glue is applied, press and stick your popsicle stick horizontally across all 8 sticks to hold them together.

3. I made sure my stick is roughly an inch from the top, and a little sideways to add character.

4. Next, using orange paint and a paintbrush, paint the horizontal stick and everything above it. Leave the lower half bare.

5. Grab a fabric flower and glue it down on your “hat” or the orange we just painted.

7. Using an orange marker, draw a triangle for the nose.

8. In brown, draw a curved dashed line to create the mouth.

9. With pink, add a pink circle to each cheek.
